The Griffiths Leadership Society for Women is the catalyst for global connections among diverse and distinguished MU collegian leaders and alumnae. Through lifelong learning, leadership development, and mentoring, members stimulate their potential and that of other MU women, while supporting the best interests and traditions of Missouri’s flagship University.
Membership consists of alumnae with a wide variety of backgrounds and career paths and undergraduate and graduate students seeking to expand their connections and career knowledge. The exchange of ideas and experiences by women of all ages lies at the heart of the organization.
COLLEGIAN MEMBERSHIP
Applications are now available for Collegian Membership in the Griffiths Leadership Society. Click here to download a copy of the application. Applications are due March 3 by 5:00 pm to the Mizzou Alumni Association at 123 Reynolds Alumni Center.
Eligibility
Each spring, new members are selected for membership in the Griffiths Leadership Society for Women. All full-time female junior, senior, and graduate level students in good standing at the University of Missouri may apply to be a Griffiths Leadership Society Collegian Member. Applications will be evaluated based on academic standing, service to the university and community, and leadership abilities. The goal is to have a diverse group of women to exchange ideas and conversation.
In order to reap the benefits of this program, students selected for membership are expected to attend two biannual conferences. While most activities will take place on weekend days, conferences may require missing one day of class, activities, and other commitments each semester.
Participation
In order to reap the maximum benefits of this program, student members are expected to attend both bi-annual meetings. This may require missing one day of classes, activities or work each semester. Students are expected to make every effort to work with their instructors to find alternative times to make up labs and class work. Additional leadership opportunities are available to participate on Griffiths Leadership committees.
Terms
Collegian members are selected to serve a one-year term from July 1 – June 30. Provided that members meet participation requirements, they then have the opportunity to return to the program each subsequent year that they are enrolled at the University of Missouri.
Dues
The cost to participate in the program is $40 per year. These annual dues help cover the cost of the conferences including meals, meeting supplies, and activities. Students may apply for a $40 scholarship to off-set the membership dues. There is no cost to apply to the program.
Upon graduation, collegian members are eligible to become EDNA members for a period of time before becoming eligible for alumnae membership. While there is no membership fee for EDNAs, there is a fee to attend conferences. EDNAs are eligible to apply for alumnae membership at the age of 25.
Apply
The application form can be downloaded or completed online. The form must be printed or typed. Resumes are not necessary and will not be forwarded to the selection committee. Click here to download the application.
All materials should be returned to Carin Huffman Grinch, 123 Reynolds Alumni Center, Columbia, MO 65211. The application deadline for the 2008 academic year is March 3, 2008. All applicants will be notified of their status by mail in April.
