Griffiths Provides Memorable Experiences and Opportunities
By Ashley Todd, Collegian Member
Since completing my junior year of college at Mizzou, I now anxiously await my final semesters at the university. I could not tell you where the time has gone these last three years, as they seemed to have flown by, but when I reflect back I have so many memories I am fond of and involvement I am proud of.
I can wholeheartedly say I am most thrilled to be a part of the Griffiths Leadership Society for Women during my time at Mizzou. Being a member of this organization has given me numerous opportunities, connections, and experiences I know would have been impossible for me to gain elsewhere.
My favorite part of Griffiths has been getting to know my mentor Andrea. Her knowledge of the “real world,” something I have yet to grasp as a student, has helped me learn what to expect when I graduate and begin a career of my own. I also love being able to share Mizzou experiences with her and see how things have changed from when she was a student to now.
Attendance at the fall and spring conferences is such a vital part of being a Griffiths member. Networking with other women at these conferences has given me the chance to see the multitude of opportunities available and the effectiveness of perseverance in any career path. The women are supportive and they encourage each of us to do our best. I have also been educated and inspired by the presentations and sessions at the conferences by women in various fields. They have made names for themselves through hard work, passion and a positive attitude, and I hope to one day follow in their footsteps.
In just the one year I have been involved in this organization, Griffiths has come to mean so much to me and I know the amount I have gained through my involvement is tremendous. And so as we welcome back returning members and extend a warm welcome to new members, I know there is much to be excited for this upcoming school year. I look forward to learning from and leading with each of you, carrying out the legacy of Martha Wright Griffiths.
