Seniors Recognized as Mizzou ‘39
Thirty-nine seniors are being honored as part of the 2009 class of Mizzou ‘39. The award program, created by the Mizzou Alumni Association Student Board, honors students in the spirit of service modeled by the founding families that made possible the 1839 founding of the University of Missouri.
The thirty-nine seniors being honored with this award were selected for their academic achievement, leadership and service to the University and community. Five student members are being recognized including Katie Eggerman, Jessica Ekhoff, Alex Ferrell, Jean Horan and Jennifer Kimball. Click here to meet the 2009 recipients.
In addition to honoring the recipients, each student selected a faculty or staff mentor who has inspired him or her during their time at Mizzou. Just as students and alumni are important to the success of the University, so are the outstanding faculty and staff who teach, research, advise and mentor the 29,000 students at Mizzou. In addition to the student members being honored as part of Mizzou ‘39, one alumnae member - Vicky Riback Wilson - is also being recognized for her work with students.
Recently these thirty-nine seniors were honored at a ceremony on the Francis Quadrangle. The Switzler Hall Bell rang- which only occurs on three select occasions- and the 2009 class of Mizzou ‘39 recipients was publicly revealed for the first time. These recipients will also be honored at an award banquet on Feb. 13 and at half-time of the Mizzou men’s basketball game on Feb. 14.
