Student Membership Applications Available
The Griffiths Leadership Society is seeking women students with a variety of career interests to participate in the program. The ideal candidates will have strong leadership skills, outstanding scholarship, a positive attitude and a sincere interest in personal and professional growth. Through participation, student members are sure to gain increased insight into the unique issues that women face in the workplace and personal life as well as develop friendships with women who can help them find or maintain the path to success.
Membership consists of alumnae with a wide variety of backgrounds and career paths as well as current MU women undergraduate, graduate and professional students seeking to expand their connections and career knowledge. The Griffiths Leadership Society mentoring and networking program is based on the exchange of ideas and experiences by women of all ages.
All full-time female students who will be enrolled in 2009-2010 as a junior, senior or graduate-level student in good standing with the University may apply to be a Griffiths Leadership Society Student Member. She must also be a member of the Mizzou Alumni Association (not required to apply). Applicants will be evaluated on their academic standing, service to the university and community, and leadership abilities. The goal is to have a diverse group of women to exchange ideas and conversation.
Student members are expected to attend two conferences per year held on a Friday evening and Saturday. It should be noted that many of the alumnae members are giving up their time at the office and with their families to travel to Columbia “on their own dime” to take part in Griffiths Leadership Society activities. Students are expected to make equal adjustments to their schedules to participate fully in the program. Additional leadership opportunities are available to participate on Griffiths Leadership Society committees.
The cost to participate in the program is $40 per year. These annual dues help to cover the cost of all meals scheduled during the bi-annual conferences as well as all meeting supplies and activities. Students must also be members of the Mizzou Alumni Association. Scholarship opportunities are available for students who need assistance. There is no cost to apply to the program.
